I’ve been writing since I was about 12 years old, mostly spiritual essays and short stories, but the first thing I ever did was a novelette for my sister, Jenn. It was a Western and it was terrible. But, hey, I was a kid, so, what did you expect? By the grace of God it will never see the light of day.
I spent a lot of years writing essays for my church’s monthly newsletter, and gradually came to know the town of Hope Springs. It’s a great place to live and grow and learn, and it’s nestled at the foot of Mt. Hope. Most of my latest work focuses on the characters who live there. And some of them are REALLY characters. Just ask Pan Shaffer, the shepherd with the multi-colored sheep who lives with the Happy Squatters Club at the Hope.
I’ll try to publish something to this site every Monday. I won’t promise something “new” because I have such a backlog of essays I’m going to be sharing them for a while. But if you’re new to my writing, these will all be “new” to you. Please let me know what you think. I crave feedback. It’s a character flaw, I know.
Also, that’s an older photo of me. The new-and-hopefully-improved model has shorter hair and much more gray. Life happens. But I like it so there you go.
Thanks for stopping by.
